Article Image Keanan Sochop was born on the 13th of March 2003 in Cape Town and loves middle distance.

FAMILY: He is the eldest of 3 siblings and resides with his parents in Mitchell's Plain.

ATHLETICS: In grade 4 he realized he loved running and have ever since competed at the Western Province Championship. "I've always loved athletics, I love the feeling I get while running especially the feeling before a race".

Nowadays children are sedentary. Training is good for your health. It can help you manage and release chronic stresses, especially for athletes during exam periods. Training improves cognitive function and the ability to focus for longer time periods. It boosts the immune system— coupled with their great training program it encourages laughter and cheerfulness.

“I really admire coach Waleed and I have full confidence in his training methods and what he teaches me and the other athletes. I love the training sessions with the athletes at Ultra Athletics Club. When I'm with them it’s like all problems just goes away. The athletes are always helping and teaching each other things, not only about athletics but other things as well”.

FAVORITES: Keenan’s favorite food would have to be pizza. He love FIFA, and playing with his friends whenever he have some free time.

The struggle you are in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow. "What motivates me is that I know eventually all the hard work and time I've put into training will eventually payoff".

Imagine with all your mind, train with all your heart, and achieve with all your might. Keanan have really made his coaches proud by being able to do everything his coach has taught him first time around. That is why attaining all his local, national and international colours will not only make him happy (and his goal) but it will surely make his coaches proud.

"Athletics requires hard work, so you have to be prepared mentally. Coach Waleed always says: "there is no quick fixes in athletics, no matter your condition with hard work and determination you can reach your goals”.
