Family: Tashriq is the eldest of 3 siblings who resides with their parents in Bonteheuwel.
Athletics: Tashriq competed since grade 3 in the 100m sprints and 150m hurdles and always came first and top 3 at the inter-schools. His proud moment was being the top sprinter at their school and their zone in his Matric year. Ever since he started training at Ultra Athletics Club he have been competing at the Western Province Junior Championship 2016 and 2017.
“The reason why I love athletics is because it is what I enjoy most, what I'm best at and what I'm capable of doing without any struggle and it also eases your mind from any situation you have”.
It is always fun when Tashriq is in the company. He trains hard and makes training fun as well. He is a well-mannered, goal orientated, humble and a very friendly young man. “Coach Waleed have become my FATHER in athletics. He guides me through All my wrongs and is one of the most respected coaches”.
Teammates: “Being part of thee Ultra team gives me a sense of belonging… I BELONG, and it is extremely fun to be with my teammates”.
Favourites: Tashriqs’ favourite food is Akni (he have an extreme euphoria about AKNI). He also loves to sing, listen to music and play touch rugby.
Personal motivation: Tashriq wears a Hearing Aid due to being partially deaf. “Showing people that no matter what your circumstances are, you just need to stay positive and you will achieve”.
Goal: “I would like to be the next record holder at any athletic event and to achieve my S.A colours and Olympic colours with medals to bring home”.
This young man radiated positivity and would always motivate fellow team mates and aspiring athletes to always “STAY POSITIVE, POSITIVITY LEADS TO SUCCESS. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW HOW GOOD YOU ARE UNLESS YOU TRY”
