Electrifying and excitement was in the air as the new queen was announced being none other than Miss Ultra AC Ameerah Donough. “I was ecstatically shocked when my name was announced. I am grateful and honoured to wear the crown and will endeavour to make my club proud and be the role model athlete, with the greatest sportsmanship, that the crown represents.
Ameerah was born on the 05th February 2001 and is a focussed young lady that loves humorous friends. “My club mates cheers me on and we like to laugh and have fun”.
Ameerahs’ short term athletics aim was to leave her matric year with a bang by reaching qualification standards for the championships. She was crowned the Western Province Champion for triple jump. She qualified for three events to the Western Cape Championship however had to withdraw from hurdlers and long jump due to sports injury. She however did jump a SASA qualification at Western Cape Championship.
The honour came when she qualified for the 3rd year in a row to represent Western Province at the Senior South African National Championship in Pretoria. Making the team three years in a row have status recognition benefits acclaimed to it. The highlight would also be her qualification and selection to represent Western Province for the 2nd year in a row at the Junior South African National Championship which was in April 2018.
FAVOURITES: Ameerahs’ favourite food is porridge, wraps, pizza, mac n cheese and fried chips.
Personal motivation: ”What motivates me is seeing whatever I put in are being achieved, seeing the positive results after training for a season. It drives me to do much better and to keep progressing.
Goal: “I would like to become an international medallist that gets invited to the diamond leagues”.
This young lady, now known as Miss Ultra, emits passion with regards to her athletics career and is determined excel and in this regard, to make herself and her club proud.
