South African National Junior Champs 2018 (5 images)
The South African national Junior championships brought about a few upsets, surprises and most unlikely scenarios. The most noticecable unlikely scenario happened in the girls u18 4x400m relay. Ultra Athletics very own Ameerah Donough(triple Jump & heptathlon specialist) started off the first leg and produced a blistering 58 second first lap which set up the team to a glorious new Western Province Record. Under normal circumstances the team would never have been selected consisting of a triple jumper and 3 1500m runners but they showed that with determination and tenacity anything is possible. Ameerah also went on to produce an excellent series of jumps in the triple jump and finished top 8 in the final. Her team mate Tashriq Parker also managed to reach the final in the long jump and placed 9th overall. Both athletes now ranked within the top 10 in South Africa. Well done closing off your season with a bang.

The 2018 version of the ASA Senior champs brought many records but more importantly brought some excellent results for Ultra Athletics Club. A very successfull championships saw our athletes bring back a silver, bronze and a 7th position. Competing with the best the country has to offer one can have an appreciation for the hard work and determination that was put in behind the scenes as well as the hard faught battles the athletes had to endure. A big congratulations firstly to Coach Waleed for his role and secondly to Ameerah Donough, Carla Johnson and Tashriq Parker on their great performances. #OthersPoachWeCoach #ItsAnUltraThingYouWoudlntUnderstand
